Where can i get really good information on how to turn my desktop pc into a web server?
ive been to www.pixelfxstudios.ca/forum/showthread.php?p=4 .....but the information there is kinda missing at some points and the its not explained as well as i was hoping it to be....i need something explained....i bought a new desktop pc for $1200 bucks and all that i plan on doing with it is turning it into a web server...(i work in web design and i own my own company and im tired of my dedicated server with godaddy and i want to eventually host my site and a couple of clients sites on my own server at home and keep the godaddy server for other customers and such...

- Well depends on what your OS is. If you are using Linux get apache, or if you have Windows Server 2003 use IIS. Second you will have to have a always online connection. Cable will work if you have the bandwidth to host multiple sites at the same time, not to mention a static IP address. Also what kind of computer do you have? How much memory do you have? What kind of sites are you thinking of hosting? What about power and backups? Hosting your own server can be done on almost any computer, making it accessible from the internet is another story. I would think it through before dumping godaddy or any other hosting service.
