Your Server

Does a Better Graphics Card = A Better Dedicated Game Server?

I'm setting up a spare computer of mine to host dedicated game servers. I have two computers, one has a better processor and the other has a better onboard graphics card. What I'm wondering is whether or not graphics cards come into play when hosting a DEDICATED, not listen server. Thanks in advance!

  1. Usually when it comes to hosting a dedicated server if your using software then a better processor is more effective quad cores can do this quite well as you can split up how much of a percentage of your computers main memory you want to go towards a specific process in this case hosting your server. When it comes to hosting the server while your in it a overall better computer in general is the most effective.
  2. Negatory. The game server does not keep track of the graphics... only computers that are playing the game need good graphics cards. The game server needs lots of RAM, and a fast CPU.
  3. The dedicated server does not need to actually run the game on screen so a better/worse graphics card would make no difference at all. More important is to have a good internet connection with low ping times.
