Is this dedicated server any good?

I'm wanting to buy a dedicated server but Im not sure if the specs are any good.. opinions? Managed Core i7-920 2.66GHz CPU: Corei7920Nehalem 2.66 GHz Memory: 6144 MB Drive #1: 1000 GB Drive #2: 1000 GB Operating System: CentOS 5.x 64-bit Control Panel: cPanel Bandwidth: 3000 GB

  1. Server for what? For a database, maybe, depending on how you configure your drives for speed. For a web server, it's probably overkill. The CPU will never be fully busy... Somewhat depends on how many virtual web sites you plan to run. For file and print server, again, the CPU is probably overkill - you will never make full use of the 4 cores just pumping data out over an Ethernet cable. An application server, it may be just right, depending on application. If it's to run a VM server, you may want to add more memory, depending on how many virtual machines you plan to run. The i7 is a good choice for a VM server. I don't understand your 3000gb bandwidth - that cannot be network speed - so what it that supposed to be?
