Call of Duty Connection Problems, Help is appreciated.?

I really do enjoy call of duty 4 and 5, both phenomenal online games. I play them on the Ps3. Though I've noticed connection issues, so have my friends and we have many theorys to the problem but wrecked over witch it is and how to fix it. When my friend would host a cod4 or 5 game me and about 2-3 other friends would join and we would all get bad connections. But if me or my other 2-3 friends were to host we would get good connections but the other friend who hosted the first time would get a bad connection. Now I'm pretty sure it might be something to do with his connection or something? Any tips on how to fix it or if it is his connection? Would it be the server types infinity ward use? or is it something to do with dedicated servers. Since Infinity ward are not part of the call of duty series anymore and the next game will just be named "Modern Warfare 2" could this problem (if there is one) be fixed? I'm hopelessly stuck with all this internet connection and hosting, don't understand it at all. If anyone could tell me if it is just his connection or if its natural to any of you? Much appreciated, thanks.
