How can i access my server across the internet without the need for programs like remote desktop?
I have a server i am using to host an internet game. The game is based on this server, however, for the most part i am seperated from this server, but i want to be able to get access to it via the internet. I don't want to use programs that do it for me, i would like to be able to access it through my browser if that is possible.

- You could enable VNC Server on your desktop and set it up to allow for browser based access. Just be warned that VNC is not very secure though on Windows platforms so you'll want to take additional steps to protect your system. I believe RemoteDesktopProtocol can be configured to work via the browser and a plugin. Some of the virtual servers in one of the labs at work here did that and it worked fairly well.
- Although remote desktop is the easiest and cheapest method, a solution like logmein.com will work through your browser.
- First of all, you have to have some kind of "remote access" process running on your server. One possible solution would be to set up a VNC server on the server machine, then use a web browser-based VNC client. I've used RealVNC before and it does a good job. There's even a built-in web server in the server piece that you can point a browser to, and it then automatically runs a java-based VNC client in your browser. (See link)
- What you need is Virtual office or server hosting so you can access all your software and other documents anytime and from anywhere, it will allow you to do so. I am also using such service. You can visit - http://www.onthenetoffice.com/ and ask about their offers to host server.
