Your Server

What is the difference between a server computer and a regular computer?

More specifically when it comes to computer gaming and how they run on the server computer. Also can a server computer do everything that a regular computer can do?

  1. a server is really just a pc, it might have multiple larger hard drives with data protection such as raid 5. a good server usually also has multiple XEON processors so yes it can do everything a normal pc can do, but they do tend to be a bit noisier if your looking to build a gaming server check with the game manufacturer for the recommended specs
  2. Basically, servers are designed to use server edition of OSes ... that they have no proper graphics acceleration hardware, but lots of RAM and generally multi core CPUs. No, you will not be able to game on a server like normal PCs ... because, as I said so, they are constructed in a way that Graphics acceleration is minimal, because, servers does not need it as it would make them power intensive.
