Windows Small Business Server. What would be the best way to connect a scanner (to a workstation) ?
... that everyone on the network can access. Does the scanner have to be a network scanner or can a USB connection one work also? Main thing is access by more than one workstation.

- I think you would be better off using a scanner with an ethernet port that is made for the task you have in mind. That way the software is specifically made for the scanner. Also, in a work environment a scanner gets a lot of use, where a home unit typically does not. HP (and others) makes several business models that start around $600, like this: http://www.pricescan.com/HP-Scanjet-N6350-Networked-Flatbed-Scanner/co/267280.html There are software solutions also available, but they tend to charge by the number of users and the going rate is $50-$60 a workstation. I don't have any experience with the software approach, but they say it will work with "any" scanner. The problem is getting it all to work together, where the ethernet solution is single source.
