Problems with Yahoo's smtp server?

I just moved to Damascus, Syria and have Syriatel as my ISP over a 3G network. I have a Yahoo Plus e-mail account but I am unable to send messages via Outlook. I receive messages fine and I know the problem is with Yahoo's smtp server because I was able to successfully send a test message to my gmail account via their smtp server - thus it isn't an ISP problem. Does anyone have a recommended solution or am I just wasting my $19.99 on a Yahoo e-mail pus account? Thanks for the responses - switching the port from 25 to 587 did the trick. Hopefully it will keep working!

  1. There is no way for you to fix it. Yahoo is working on the site. Do not install or uninstall any Yahoo programs. Yahoo knows about your problem. Thousands of users are reporting this same thing. It may take days or weeks but it will be fixed. Yahoo is working on the new Home Page redesign at the same time they are merging their Search features with Microsoft. It is not your computer or browser that is causing the problem.
  2. If you're unable to send email, try using port 587 when sending via Yahoo!'s SMTP server. Here's how to make this change in Outlook: 1. From the "Tools" menu, select "Accounts." 2. Select your Yahoo! POP account and click the "Properties" button. 3. Click the "Advanced" tab. 4. Next to "Outgoing server (SMTP"), change port 25 to 587. 5. Click "Apply." Then click "OK" and "Close." Troubleshooting sending mail. click this link below. http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/yahoomail/mailplus/pop/pop-28.html;_ylt=ApayusAVJibELFFTQ0M9HmG7myN4
