Your Server

I want to build a server and be a webhost - where to start?

I need the basics.. What kind of internet connection do I need? What type of programs/operating systems are best for servers? Any basic info about having your own server is helpful.

1. Typically you want a business class connection with a static ip address. On many consumer plan it is against the TOS to host a server. Any operation system would work but if you are technical linux is a good option. (Using Apache)
