How can i Connect to a linux server from my comp?

the linux server which am talkin abt has OpenSuse and my comp has Vista .... i tried using PuTTY and tried to connect to the linux server using SSH as well as telnet ... but in no vain i was not able to connect the linux server .... the network at present has only the server and my comp so pls can u tell what all i should be looking out for or what mistakes i could have made!! thnx

1. I can't remember the exact bits you need to select on the SuSe box, but use YaST - there are options undet there - probably network services or something. You need to make sure the telnet and SSH bits of software are installed and activated.
