Is it possible to host my own dedicated server?
By taking a PC and making it a dedicated server, using broadband internet?

- Yes, it is possible by using Apache to run the server for you. You can download the latest version here which will work on Windows and Linux: http://httpd.apache.org/ However, most ISP do not give you enough upload speed to run a decent server and therefore the server itself might be quite slow. Try it out at least. If you need any help then I've set one up before and will be willing to help if needed.
- It is completely possible. I'm guessing you are talking about a web server? If so, just google "Wamp Server", and that will let you host websites, message boards, you name it on your computer. Just make sure to check with your ISP first, some of them don't allow their users to have their own private servers.
- I assume you mean a webserver for a website. You need to run webserver software (such as MS IIS or Apache) and open up port 80 on your router. You need to be careful about you ISP doesn't periodically change your IP address, because this will stop it working when the IP changes. Most home ISPs charge extra for a static IP address, if they offer it at all.
