How to set up e-mail on phone?

My dad has a Samsung SGH-U900 (Samsung Soul) and a gmail account, could anyone help me as when sending an email it says there is no response. the smtp server is smtp.gmail.com and the pop3 server is pop.gmail.com. help please? =S

1. i think that the problem is that you have no wi fi connection on that phone yet. Maybe if you set up the wi fi connection you might get the email workinphone
