How to make my internet faster?

Hey! Currently i am living in a house with my family and everyone uses the internet some download and that really makes the internet slow for me. Is there a way for me to dedicate some bandwidth to my computer directly so that i wont be as effected? Can i do some port forwarding? or something with virtual servers? how would i go about setting a static ip for my computer? thanks for any information you can give me. Thanks...and btw i dont want a mac...i know how to use a pc im not in kindergarden

2. If other people are eating up your bandwidth, there's nothing you can do except asking them to stop that could increase your internet speed, unless you wanted to block their computers completely, or get your own connection.
3. Get Comcast High Speed Internet. Or better router and adapter
4. If you have admin access to the router, you can ban their LAN IPs. They'd realise in an instant that you've done this, however, so the best thing to do would be to talk to them. To set up a static IP, you can follow a guide for your specific router at http://www.portforward.com/networking/staticip.htm
5. i recomend u get firefox. its better than the normal internet. also, try uninstalling programs u dont use!
