How did I use my Gmail email account with WINDOWS MAIL?

OK, I am not computer savvy by any means, so I need step by step instructions on how to do this. For some reason, I was able to get my Gmail account (through Windows Mail) to allow emails to come in, BUT, I am not able to send emails. When I try to send emails, this is the error box that pops up: An unknown error has occurred. Subject 'hi', Account: 'pop.gmail.com', Server: 'smtp.gmail.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 587, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0x800CCC0B HELP!!!

1. You usually have to check a setting "My server requires authentication" and then check "use same settings as incoming server" You can also try using port 465 for outgoing
