Trouble with Microsoft Outlook Settings?
I have Microsoft Outlook 2003 with a comcast e-mail account. After I got a new wireless router (linkysy), it hasn't been working. These are the errors after I tested the account settings: Send test e-mail message: The specified server was found, but there was no response from the server. Please verify that the port and SSL information is correct. To access these settings close this dialog, then click More Settings and click on the Advanced tab. Find outgoing mail server (SMTP): Outlook could not connect to the outgoing mail server (SMTP). The problem could be the server name or port, or your server name may not support SSL. Verify your port and SSL settings in More Settings under the Advanced tab. Any help would be great!! Thanks!! um....i fixed it, but it turned out that my virus protection package was blocking the e-mail......thanks anyways.

- This problem has something to do with the comcast account, I understand that it only happen to send email, receiving email is perfect. The reason behind is this is a comcast email security feature, they don't allow other email provider account use their server to send email, so there will be no spreading of email virus from their server. To get around this, go to menu, tools, accounts, click the problem email account(your other email provider than comcast), don't use their email server address in the outgoing mail(SMTP) box in servers tab when you setup your email account. Use comcast outgoing mail server address instead, since outgoing mail very seldom need authentication(log in), so it will work the same. The only thing you need to change is the reply address: under user information section of the general tab, put your other email address, then the mail out will be through comcast, but return is always the other email account. Hope this helps.
