i have no router but can't download ervtorrents or host game servers etc

hello i have no router and i cant dl torrents or host cs servers my brother says its because "my computer thinks it has a router" but he wont tell me how to fix and no its not my firewall stopping anyone know how to fix it?

1. What is your computers IP? Go to start - run, type cmd in the space, hit enter. Then on the black screen type ipconfig /all (leave a space between ipconfig and the /all. Write down your computers IP, then open a web browser and go to http://whatismyip.com If the numbers are the same, you do not have a router, if they are different -- somewhere there is a router!.. It could even be that your modem is using NAT since some do these days. If they match then some program on your computer (firewall, antivirus, spam blocker something) is blocking ports which is a good thing but you do need to know what that program might be so you can open the ports needed. (Just exactly how do you know its not your firewall?) Go to https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2 run Shields UP, it will tell you what is and isn't open on your computer! A little more information would help here.. like how you connect DSL CABLE WIRELESS ETC. How is your computer connect to the internet?
