How do you host a multiplayer game on the wii for cod 5?

I know that you dont have to have freinds to play online but I was wondering can you host games that the server will automatically connect people to or do i have to have freinds. When ever i host a private match without freinds no one ever comes in, How do i just host a game that anyone can join?
