Dedicated Game Server Operating System?

I am looking at building a server for my clan. The part that is really causing me trouble is the operating system. When I look at Microsoft Windows Server Standard 2003 R2 with SP2 the price varies greatly with the CALs. Should I get a different version or get a different operating system? I do plan on running several different games off that one machine (Source games). I don't want Linux because I need one (or more) Garry's Mod servers. Garry has never released windows binaries so I need to run through Wine. The added virtualization just takes up more processor power.
