Windows Small Business Server 2003 - Where to get from now?
Bought a legitimate copy of Windows Small Business Server 2003 Premium R2 for around $1k but it was not finding any hard drives so I started reading abut Installation Requirements that say SBS 2003 R2 requires SBS 2003 SP1 (which is completely non-sense to me but ...) Now I have to have this machine ready by tomorrow :-( Are there any places on the internet where I can pay and download SBS 2003 to burn a bootable CD to have SBS 2003 installed fresh? Would a Trial Version be available somewhere I can download to move on to SBS 2003 R2? Please suggest what are my options ... Thanks and Regards, QAData

- Your problem is almost certainly that SBS doesn't come with appropriate drivers for your hard disk/RAID controller. Consult your documentation to determine what controller you are using, download the drivers and place them on a floppy disk - you CANNOT use a flash drive or CD-ROM, the drivers MUST be on a floppy disk - and watch the screen during the initial bootup of the SBS CD - it should indicate you can press F6 to provide drivers - do so, insert the floppy disk and then load the drivers from the floppy. (use a USB floppy or attach an internal floppy temporarily if the system doesn't have one). It's VERY VERY VERY unlikely that any other CD would have the drivers for your particular controller built in, so downloading something off the internet, aside from being illegal, would likely prove useless. Now, if you don't have a floppy disk and cannot find one, you SHOULD be able to slipstream the driver into a NEW SBS CD that YOU create. Google nlite and slipstream then use nlite to create this new bootable CD. Finally, if you still have problems, DON'T ASK QUESTIONS HERE. Sorry, Yahoo Answers may be fine for simple things, but because they DO NOT ENCOURAGE two way communication, you likely won't get your solution (at least not as fast) using this service. I recommend forums like www.experts-exchange.com and www.tek-tips.com or newsgroups.
