Can anyone explain what "Remote STMP Server Returned" means? I'm not getting my yahoo emails! ?
I'm having problems with my yahoo! email account all of a sudden (well last 5 days or so). I'm not recieving the bulk of my emails, just a few are getting through. I tried sending myself a test email from a different email address and I got a Message Delivery Failure saying that the recipient (my yahoo account) could not be reached. Reason: Remote SMTP Server Returned: 550 relaying denied for ....@yahoo.ie. Can anyone shed some light on why I'm having this problem? Any help is appreciated!

- It means that you local server is down. Are you trying to send emails
- 550 is the code for verifying your email. This means the email you send from another email account cannot be verified by Yahoo email. The email you sent could be corrupted or something. Sometimes some SMTP servers will also reject mail if the sending host doesn't have a PTR record in the reverse lookup. Double check to make sure you have a PTR record for your mail server.
- Your local server is down. Yahoo will know this and will be on it like flies to shit. Si its probable up and running now. Theya re contracted with IBM and Message labs email continuity for their email and data backup and Disaster Recovery so it shouldn't be a long winded problem. Just try again later. STMP is an interface: Interface generally refers to an abstraction that an entity provides of itself to the outside. This separates the methods of external communication from internal operation, and allows it to be internally modified without affecting the way outside entities interact with it, as well as provide multiple abstractions of itself. It may also provide a means of translation between entities which do not speak the same language, such as between a human and a computer. Because interfaces are a form of indirection, some additional overhead is incurred versus direct communication. The interface between a human and a computer is called a user interface. Interfaces between hardware components are physical interfaces. This article deals with software interfaces, which exist between separate software components and provide a programmatic mechanism by which these components can communicate.
- I am also having the same problem, so it has nothing to do with your local server. This is a yahoo problem. They need to get on to.
