Sony PS3 Running Linux Server?

Was wondering coz i know ps3 you can run a seperate OS i've made a choice of goin for Helios/yellow dog. Usually with my pc for example if i were to run any game and make a server i have to do some port forwarding in order for people to connect to me and stuff coz i'm behind a router. But when i play warhawk on my ps3 i make a server dedicated or non dedicated i dont need any port forwarding or DMZ. Was wondering if i install another OS on my PS3 and decide to run a server will it work the same? will i need to forward any ports for people to connect to me like when my pc hosts any kinda server or can it just do it on its own? And will my public IP address be the MacID or my normal ISP ip address?

1. You will need to port forward or at least open incoming ports on the firewall to allow people to connect. Your public address will be the same as before, it's attached to the router.
