how do i configure a program to send mail to my g-mail with smtp.gmail.com ?

Basically im trying to use a program that will automatically send e-mails to me throughout the day. It says i need a smtp server e-mail and so i made a g-mail account with advice from others. I cannot get the program to work however, maybe you offer some advice? SMTP server : smtp.gmail.com Port : 587 Username : johndoe@gmail.com Password : jdoe123 (actual g-mail password) Authentication Method : Login Plain (other authentication options include; CRAM-MD5, AUTH Login, None)

1. goto your program mail accounts and add a gmail account, follow the wizard (should be one) or follow the steps for user/passwrd etc... gmail icoming server: imap.gmail.com use port #993 and SSL gmail outgoing sever: smtp.gmail.com use port #465 and SSL uncheck leave mail on server and you should be good to go this works for outlook and windows mail hope this helps u
