Counter Strike 1.6 Dedicated Server Question?

hi i have a friend who gave me cs 1.6 on a disk it has steam and everything and i cud play online just fine w/o downloading anything b/c its all on disk anyway it came with a creating dedicated erver option and i was wondering how do i use it when i click "HLDS Launcher" valve a green window pops up am i suppose to just configure it then launch my own game? i did it but cant find the server online am i suppose to input codes iunto the console? plz help ppl thx ok i found it online now but but i try to get in it it said "disconnected: VALVE validiction rejected" wat does that mean?? btw in the console it says this: couldn't exec listip.cfg couldn't exec banned.cfg No auth servers parsed Disabling Valve Authentication. 1. I would try updating your steam client since it is probably an old version
2. try turning down your firewall and try to add the i.p it has to your fav's and see if u can see it then
