Personal SMTP?
I am trying to set up a personal SMTP server on my computer using Windows Server 2003. However, I seem to only be able to send email to those on the same domain. Can't email gmail, yahoo, or anyone outside my domain. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I am able to access the Internet. so I am able to go beyond my LAN.

- Do you have a public domain name for your computer? Your e-mails could be getting rejected by SMTP servers along the path that are trying to do a reverse DNS lookup on your IP address. If one of these relay points finds that your IP address does not translate to the domain that is set up in your SMTP server, it could drop the message.
- You aren't reaching the Internet at all, you're stuck on yourr local LAN. Do you have the router or gateway IP address ?? You will also need to turn on DHCP. Run a tracetr to a known good outside IP address. That will trace each hop to the IP address so if it's getting hung up you'll know where..... has to be run from the DOS command window in Win XP. Look up DHCP, tracetr in HELP section...... Next time use Suse Linux with Apache server...... bye
