SMTP server for Windows ?
Im using WIndows XP Pro. I want a simple to use app to act as an SMTP server so that i can compose my emails in Outlook and send them off to this local server to be then transmitted to my external email account (ie. gmail). Im trying to use Free SMTP server -- it receives the Outlook email but gets hung up when it attempts to transmit it to the external email (nothing is ever sent). Can ytou recommend a SMTP server for windows? My system has a router and my provider is Sympatico here in Canada.

- I used to have wingate. www.wingate.com
- Hmmm....i'd say cygwin. That way you can get exim working on your windows desktop. cygwinX for a pretty gui. http://x.cygwin.com/ it is not too hard to work if you are slightly technical. just read docs.
- You can not do this easily, you need to be running a registered domain mail server nowadays for anyone to accept your mail, unless you also have a static IP address you have no chance. There is absolutely no point in this unless you are attempting to serve mail for multiple accounts on the same domain. At this stage you are better to get a proper mail server set up on Linux, everything is there free.
