Your Server

How do I make my PC a SMTP server so others can connect to it and send emails??? No SMTP-AUTH would be better.

Hello, The problem I have is the following: I want to setup a Fax Machine to receive faxes, store them, then email them to an specific email. I found one that does it, but it requires SMTP to do it and it should be without SMTP-AUTH. My ISP requires SMTP-AUTH so I cannot use that way. I tried sending them through Gmail (smtp.gmail.com) but they require SMTP-AUTH also... Is there a way to set up a computer to be a SMTP server so I can direct my fax to it and then email the faxes??? POP3 could also be an option... No... no MAPI It's a Brother MFC-8860DN... and trust me, if this was my company, I would do it differently... but that's what the boss wants...

  1. Check if the application can use MAPI instead of SMTP. If it does then in gmail account simply enable MAPI instead of SMTP, hopefully it'll work. Good luck!
  2. Ummm. you can do that but you'll probably be the biggest source of SPAM on the internet. What retard designed that fax machine???? Have you looked and putting a fax modem in a computer and finding some software to handle the faxing and emailing?
