Your Server

What is the dedicated server in regards to Team Fortress Classic?

When I log in to Steam, I can choose from all these different servers to be able to play the game on. There is another area where I can download something that says "Dedicated Server". Is ths what I would need to be able to start my own server game for people in my area? What would I need to ahve to be able to do that?

1. Dedicated servers are ones that are run on a computer, but the person running them can't be on that game. You can make a lan and a regular server and play on them but dedicated servers you can't make and join, but dedicated servers are much more stable and a bit faster
