How can i host my own webserver on my own computer? Does anyone know a good program that isnt complicated?

Im trying to host files for people to download when they connect to a game server im hosting and want to make it faster using my computer as a server. So does anyone know a program to host the files and gives me a domain name usually with my ip? Ive seen people that have files hosted on there computer and use there IP as there domain. My ip is static..lol i just need a server thats going to host 1 file thats it..

2. ok, i have a question for you, what type of ip do ye have is it static, or dynamic, if its static, then the answer is yes, if not, then you'll need to sign up with a isp that'll give you that option, why is all this important, well, static ip means that you'll always have the same address, otherwise, well, you'll need to find someone better R3dm0

I think IIS is built only server edition of windows. You can also try IIS in XP. That might have less features and might have some restrictions. My advice would be trying to choose some hosting provider who can help you to run a dedicated server or shared hosting. First of all you need a static ip, you can get that from your internet service provider if you dont have it, Second use a package which gives you unlimited data transfer/bandwith Third The speed the transfer rates should be atleast more than 64Kbps if your site is just going to be a simple, and if its gonna be a complex bigshot site then 128+ Kbps would be good for you or eeven more Fourth i guess to be asking this question, you probably should be having enouhg money to pay for your internet bill, & electricity bill As for the program you need, Any good and secure and well known webserver, depending on your need, And hey at last a warning = be prepared for lots of trouble, :) best of luck
