Why do I need to run a DNS on my microsoft small business server (SBS)?
Our internet service provider has a primary and secondary DNS, aren't these good enough? Why would our small LAN in the office need a DNS in our microsoft SBS?

- i am guessing that you dont but it makes things easier tha typing ip address all the time
- The fact of the matter is, you don't. The only time you'd need Microsoft's DNS server is if you have dynamic ip addresses (DHCP) on machines *THAT NEED TO BE ACCESSED FROM THE OUTSIDE*. Even then, there are better solutions than using Microsoft DNS. As an ISP myself, I would not recommend that you use Microsoft's DNS server. They have a lot of good stuff, but the DNS server isn't one of them. And remember..."Friends don't let friends run MS Exchange."
