Server 2003 small business server Shuts down after 2 hours?
Hi. My windows server 2003 for small business servers turns itself off after approx 2 hours running. It gives no errors just says the system is shutting down. Also I can not get client omputers to connect to for some reason. Any ideas please Thanks Wayne

- I had this problem with my friend's dad's computer, his computer kept shutting down at set intervals, he had a boot sector virus, I would advise you download AVG anti virus (which is free) and scan your computer! http://free.grisoft.com/ - AVG Antivirus!
- Maybe one of the fans has quit working and it is getting too hot. Shut it down, open the box and then turn in back on, checking the fans. Sometimes there is also temperature information in the BIOS (setup) screen. Check the Event log on the computer also. As far as clients not connecting, check your router. Can the clients "see" each other - can you ping one from the other or is the server your domain controller as well? You can e-mail me at langranny@yahoo.com.
- You probably don't have it setup correctly. SBS is designed to be run in a very specific manner. If you don't, it will shut itself down every hour or two because you are violating the license. Make sure you've made the server THE FSMO Master Domain Controller and aren't setup to use a workgroup or have other preexisting domain controllers. Frankly, SBS is FANTASTICALLY RELIABLE... IF it's setup correctly. If you're running this in a business (as most users would be), I strongly recommend you HIRE a Small Business Server Specialist to setup the server properly - a guy who really knows servers IS NOT THE SAME and if he doesn't have significant experience with SBS, could end up costing you MUCH MORE in the long run.
