Hotmail SMTP timeout when sending 1MB attachments? I upgraded to Thunderbird 3.1 and since then I can't send larger attachments. I can send small (< 1mb) attachments with no problem. When I send a larger attachment (1.36MB in this example) it stops around 90% and says, "Sending of message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to SMTP server smtp.live.com timed out. Try again or contact your network administrator." Using my home server as THE smtp server? I'm using my home server to host my website. I was able to correctly configure the POP3 in mercury mail so I can read the messages I receive. But, I cannot send the mail out to the person who requested a copy to their mail address. I'm just trying to understand a little better how smtp works, as i know you can open a socket in a smtp server like "example.com" having an email address "whatever@example.com" and send the email to it. now, with yahoo, or hotmail, in example, you can not just trying to connect to yahoo.com via smtp, because they use something like plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com. forwarding emails FROM hotmail accounts? okey so i've got a mac, right? & i've got a hotmail email account. i've tried multiple times to try to sync my mac "mail" to recieve my hotmail emails via forwarding, but eventually learned that hotmail doesn't have a POP or SMTP server. i was wondering if anyone knew how i could possibly do this still. or even if i can't do it through the mac mail program if there was a third party program that allows you to have hotmail emails forwarded to it. yeah. i found that out. but.. there's other ways to get it i guess. by using other pop3, pop, smtp server addresses. anyone know of any that'd actually work? i would really appreciate it.

How can I fool hotmail senderID and e-mail address? Well, basically I need to send an email from an email address which is not mine. I know how to do this by connecting to the smtp server using windows' command prompt; (ex. telnet smtp.domain.com 25) However the recepient of the email may notice that, in his mailbox, the email address is shown (ez. user@domain.com) in the "from" section of the particular email. This is because Hotmail uses senderID which enables users to display their real name instead of the email address, when emails are sent 'properly'. Also, hotmail doesn't seem to allow smtp connections to its servers, it only accepts http connections. Any ideas on how can I do all this??

Confused about SMTP servers? Right, I used to have incredimail on an AOL connection and I loved it. However, I now use hotmail and no-longer use AOL for the internet - I am on a computer using WIN XP OS and a broadband connection with BT. I tried to re-install incredimail on this new PC, and while it works fine so far as composing mail goes, because it's hotmail it can't be sent because they don't provide a POP. So, I followed the instructions here http://email.about.com/od/incredimailtips/qt/et_free_hotmail.htm and all was going fine until I hit the part about the SMTP server. I don't know much about this computer - the e-mail address provided by BT for connection in my dads, I don't have one except for my hotmail. What do I need to do now? Is there any way around this? Hi, I have a problem that email sent from our smtp server just gets lost and recipients don't receive them inbox or spam, they simpley dissapear. What could bet the possible cause? We have an SPF record for our domain and there are no problems with Gmail or Hotmail. Wthere are spamassassin headers as well. What else could be needed?

When will Yahoo Go be available for N73 (on Vodafone), I dont know how to set up email for yahoo or hotmail :( I have now found out that Yahoo Go will send a notification when you receive an email to my N73, however, yahoo Go hasnt been set up yet for my model yet! Why does mail.app keep rejecting my hotmail password? I've had mail (on my mac) getting my emails for a long time now, but recently, the pop3 server keeps rejecting the password every 5 minutes or so, and I don't know why. It's been working invariably since, so I don't think it's a problem with the configuration of pop3 and smtp servers. Anyone know what to do?

VBS coding for SMTP using CDO.Message? I am trying to write a mail engine that does not require a local SMTP server to work using VBS (no its not for sending spam). Everything is working perfectly except for the final bit: How can I add aditional information into the .To = feild without the host trying to process it. Example: the host could be "mail.example.com" the recpiants are: test1@hotmail.com, test2@yahoo.com, test3@example.com. I only want to send the message to "test3@example.com" on "mail.example.com" but I want to show the full list of recpients. I have no idea if that makes any sence :) YES I know. That’s what I am doing. But then the full list of recipients of the message are not displayed in the TO: field of Outlook. If a server can do it, there must be a way.

two hotmail accounts thunderbird? Hi, I am trying to run both my hotmail accounts on thunderbird, one of the accounts is old (5yrs), the other is new. I already have the webmail and hotmail addon, and I already connected my new account successfully. Heres the tricky part. When I add the old account, my new account stopped working all of a sudden. The old account works fine, but somehow it messed up my new account from working. The only problem with it right now is that I cant send emails, I can only read them. Can anyone check my settings to see whats wrong? old account (working) smtp - server name: smtp.live.com - port: 25 - secure connection: TLS (if available) new account (not able to send emails) - server name: smtp.live.com - port: 25 ( I also tried 587 with no luck) - secure connection: TLS (if available) Why wont they both work at the same time when I set them up the same? How difficult is it to get Hotmail working with Thunderbird?!? My friend saw me using Thunderbird today and asked for me to set it up on his computer with his Hotmail account. What a hassle... I remember setting up my Gmail account in five minutes flat, and I'm still scratching my head trying to set up Hotmail after half an hour reading about issues with SMTP servers and the like. Has anyone persisted long enough to have a Hotmail account able to send and receive emails through Thunderbird? I've used Webmail and the Hotmail extension, but it still won't send emails. i am not able to send emails to yahoo, gmail, hotmail and some other domains from exchange server 2003? my exchange server name is 'exchange.mars', but email domain is 'marsfreights.com' with email adresses like admin@marsfreights.com. I have public IP which i am using for exchange smtp and pop3. i am getting #5.7.1 error in NDR from some domains can i resolve my exchange server name to exch.marsfreights.com which is my public IP from exchange.mars which is my local domain name.

Need assistance setting up Windows Mail? Ok, so I have Windows Mail, provided to me via Windows Vista. I have had trouble setting up an account. I'm getting stuck when I come to the SERVER information. I have Yahoo Mail. Obviously web based. The account set up is asking me if the incoming server is POP3 or IMAP. Then it's asking me if what the outgoing server SMTP name is. I don't have a clue where to find this information, or even if Yahoo can provide that to me. Even if they could, I've read forums that state that I can't use a Web-Based email service like Yahoo, Hotmail, etc. I just need assistance setting this damn thing up. I've had the computer since May with no luck.

setting up a windows mail account? hey, I am trying to set up a windows mail account, windows vista provides me with windows mail: I go into windows mail, I go to the tools menu, then accounts... then add email account, I type in my display name, I type in my e-mail address, I press next and then I get to a part which is titles 'set up email servers' Under incoming mail, there is a text box for me to type something in but I don't have the faintest idea what I am supposed to type, it also gives me the option as to whether it is POP3 or IMAP. Email Documents from Printer/Scanner? I have a Dell Laser MFP 1815 dn (if that matters). It's a combination Printer/Scanner with the capability to send digital faxes and quite possibly transfer paper documents to my compuer (via email or other) in a pdf format. I dont have the user's manual but have gotten so far as to input my user and email address into the directory and figured how to send it as an email. This is where the problem comes in. It pops up that I have an SMTP error. Im thinking perhaps that is my server. The outlook email on my computer wont work very well so I have had to set up a hotmail account. I entered the SMTP as hotmail and have hotmail set as the default email on my computer. The printer/scanner is hooked up to my Linksey wireless (as is my computer...obviously) so I know there is a good connection. So what gives? Am I just being a blonde in the matter? Please help! When I try doing it that way it will only scan my document one page at a time, and save each page as a seperate file. I have to upload the document to a legal program online, but can only upload one file. How do I make the scanner save the document as one file with multiple pages rather than seperate files?

mail from local domain goes to yahoo junk mail n not to inbox? i have a local domain name. kmun.gov.kw and when i send my mail to yahoo or hotmail the mail goes to junk mail folder and not to inbox. I use sendmail as my smtp server apprecite if someone can help me out regards simon
