Problems with Yahoo's smtp server? I just moved to Damascus, Syria and have Syriatel as my ISP over a 3G network. I have a Yahoo Plus e-mail account but I am unable to send messages via Outlook. I receive messages fine and I know the problem is with Yahoo's smtp server because I was able to successfully send a test message to my gmail account via their smtp server - thus it isn't an ISP problem. Non-Yahoo SMTP gateway? We have our own domain with its own SMTP gateway, but since we switched from Insight cable to AT&T/Y! DSL, we can't send outbound mail with our gateway. I presume that Y! is blocking access to the server. We can, however, receive just fine from the domain, and my gmail account works great. If I use the gmail smtp server with my other domain's email, it gets marked as being from gmail (of course) which isn't what I want -- I want the messages split up. So, what do we do? Sending image through SMTP server question? I have a program that automatically sends pictures through a specified SMTP server... I have it set up to send them to my phone's email address with ATT&T. I've tried Gmail and Yahoo, and both work, it sends the message, but when my phone tries to retrieve the picture, it says "failed". I know it's not a problem with the image though, because if I send the SAME image directly through gmail or yahoo, my phone is able to download it perfectly. Could this be an issue with encryption? Or is it something else? Any ideas? I do. I already said that the pictures worked fine if I sent them normally. Sending them through the program, however, doesn't work. Even though it tries to send the pictures... For some reason, my phone can't retrieve them.

But doing it within a server that doesn't allow sending email Assume from a free hosting account that I picked up I can neither send nor recieve e-mails without paying for it. Now with that in mind what I want to be able to do is have a contact form and someone just be able to have it send me e-mail. But ofcourse the server will not allow it and this contact form is posted on this server. Is there a way to be able to post my page on the server that I have, but have a contact form on it which will somehow bypass the "un-allowment" of getting an e-mail from the contact form and somehow call something such as Googles free smtp? Then have the contact form just send the information or contact the smtp.gmail.com and e-mail it to my Google mail or another e-mail adress? I have enabled POP3 settings on gmail and have verified that it is a POP3 account. 3. My incoming mail server is pop.gmail.com:995 and my outgoing server is smtp.gmail.com:587. SSL is enabled and so is outgoing authentication. And when I finish and try to receive mail, I get this. "Unable to identify the incoming mail server. Verify that the server name is correct, then try again to send and receive email." What's the matter? I tried giving a new port, and still nothing. I get the same error message when I try both of those techniques.

SMTP from anywhere in the world ? Hi, i need to be able to send emails from anywhere in the world using Outlook but without changing the SMTP server settings. I have tried Gmail, which i liked and works well but unfortunately I cant use it because it adds 'on behalf of' onto every email sent. It just doesnt look very proffessional and can confuse clients by showing two email address's (my main one and the Gmail one). Since i cant remove 'on behalf of' what other options are there? Outlook not deleting messages from the server with Gmail? I am using Outlook 2007 with POP/SMTP settings to connect to Gmail. I have the button checked to delete messages from the server when deleted from deleted items. However the messages are still there when I log into Gmail online. IP Camera email? I am trying to set up my IP Camera to send email when it detects motion. It requires the following inputs: SMTP Login Name (I assume this is my xxxx@gmail); SMTP Password (I assume this is my gmail password); SMTP (mail) Server (I assume this is smtp.googlemail.com); Return Email Address (I assume I can put my xxx@gmail.com address); Recipient Email Address (I assume I can use the gmail address again) and finally; SMTP Port (which I use 465 or 587 as requested by Google). Problem with Gmail and Incredimail? this has just started to happen recently. I am fine at the beginning of the day. but after about 5 hours incredimail can't get into my gmial accounts anymore. Why cannot we send email through SMTP from a device behind NAT? I have a computer which is behind a NAT router. If I try to initiate a SMTP connection from my computer to some destination, the connection times out. However if I use some replaying server like GMail, AOL etc for relaying the mail it works fine. I am not looking for vague answers relating to firewall settings and all that but specific one which relates to the functioning of the SMTP and Ident protocol. Hope someone has a clear and possibly detailed explanation for this behavior. Is this just to avoif relaying, if so how does this work. Adding more details to what I am trying to achieve: 1. Install IIS SMTP server on Windows XP PC 2. The PC is connected to the internet through a NAT through a DSL router. 3. I try to send mail through localhost (since it has a SMTP server running). 4. The server tries and then times out while sending a mail. Case 2. 1. Do this with a computer connected without a router directly to the internet (eg university LAN) This means that there is no NAT translation involved. 2. The above procedure works perfectly. Hope it makes more sense now! I used Wireshark to capture packets, and found out that there was no incoming transmission; only outgoing TCP syn packets to the SMTP server. The ISP ATT doesn't block access to SMTP servers so that is ruled out In fact on connecting without the router configured for NAT translation SMTP works fine. It seems that the SMTP server is trying to authenticate the sender somehow (not sure of the details, IDENT protocol?) but is failing because of NAT traversal since NAT cannot accept incoming connections on TCP 113 without forwarding. I am leaving this open if someone could shed more light on this (the exact authentication protocol SMTP servers go through (to avoid relaying?) Thanks for all the responses!

I have tried to enter smtp.orangehome as an alternative but the test comes up as faulty. Any ideas?
