Are there any free game server hosting websites out there? I have a game called Freelancer and me and a group of friends would like to make a clan server. However, we have been hosting it only when we want to play. Now we would like to allow others to log on whenever they wish. Since none of us can leave our computers on indefinably, we are looking for a server to host the game on.

Hosting game server on a dynamic ip? So I made a pretty nice server in SAMP (San Andreas Multiplayer) and when i tried to host it using my ip address (The one from a website like whatsmyip.com) and it was not found. Later I installed no-ip because I learned that you need something like this if you have a dynamic ip. So I filled that all out with the same ip address. No result. How much bandwidth does it take to host a private game server? I am attempting to host a private Ragnarok Online server for my friends to play (and others as I get it worked out). If my computer is operating as the server, I am assuming the game will be uploading information to players. (I may be wrong, I am not 100% on how this works yet -.-'). Game hosting help!!!!!? This is for pc btw. For some reason I cannot host a server in Left 4 Dead nor Killing Floor. I tried everything. Im thinking its probably because I'm using wireless internet which I am trying to get my parents to hook my pc up to the modem. In Left 4 Dead I can get a game running for like 3 mins and then server crash, but most of the time it doesn't even go into a game, just loads back to the main menu. In Killing Floor its the same thing. Please help. (Btw my friend is also having this problem but he doesn't live in the same area as me so I don't think its the town xD ) This problem has happened when there was nobody playing. I started the game the second that it came out because I had it preloaded on steam. So then I tried hosting it with my friends that live not even 5miles away it still didn't work. But yea I considered the issue of too many ppl. Same with killing floor. I was one of the first to play it and I still had issues. It's probably having something to do with that this is not the main pc and the server tries connecting to the other pc which is not playing hte game so it crashes. That's my theory.

IP/Server Hosting problem? It started back a few years ago - I was playing NWN (a game) online and could host a server & everything. Then all of a sudden my server wouldn't show up anymore, only I could see it and that was on LAN (Local Area Network, I know what it is so no need to explain it) I noticed my IP was something like 10.0.0.1. I tried everything I could think of to fix it, liike reinstalling the game, disabling my firewall, adding exceptions into the firewell etc. but I couldn't fix it. If I try to join a dedicated server, it says error connection failed after 10 retries. port forwarding didn’t help/work; I join at the lobby and it doesn’t load (unless it’s a local server but I don‘t know how to find them); the bar doesn’t move; it still says error of connection failed after 10 retries and boots me from loading screen. (Though I heard port forwarding is only for hosting not joining, though I can’t host it either as I said earlier, more on port forwarding later, like right now in the next sentence.) It [port forwarding] also didn’t help me host on a/the dedicated server either, but I swear I followed all the steps to the letter, maybe port forwarding isn’t the problem, maybe I did it wrong, it didn’t work for far cry 2 either because I could join games but I couldn’t host and I used simple port forwarding with preset ports for the game I got from the list; still nothing. I reinstalled the game [left 4 dead] 2-3 times already. If it's possible I port forwarded wrong I don’t know how because I followed all the instructions on the port forward.com router (LINKSYS BEFSX41) guide step by step and I tried to set a static IP but it says the ports aren’t open... but maybe the port forwarding isn’t the problem. if it is can you please tell me how to do it right? I don’t know how to check, but when I looked at the reports and logs it said it trusted potentially dangerous or unwanted programs so if that’s it than it can’t be the antivirus because nothing is blocked, they are trusted. My computer's internet is hooked up to my mom and Step dad's router (and possibly modem) in another room. Also, if you do not know how to fix the problem, please tell me how to filter my results so I can join local games only and I wont accidentally click on a dedicated server and get the error, sometimes I can't find an empty lobby to host a local game but if all my searches were local I could join games too.

Does setting up a Local LAN game at work really hurt bandwidth? We want to contend against each other in a multiplayer game. We are not setting up as a Host/server on the internet (WAN). Instead we set the game for Local (LAN) then 1 PC can find the Host/Server and we can have 1 on 1 battles. Can this be traced? And really how much bandwidth are we using? I resetted the router to factory settings and reset the passsword coz we didnt know the password after being newly bought. i tried admin and no password but no results, i restted it now and opened the router. i forwarded the ports and allowed it in the firewall.
