Windows Small Business Server 2008 Premium on 2 Servers? Can I install Windows Small Business Server 2008 Premium's Exchange on one server and the Domain and GP on a different server in the same environment? So basically, Server A: Domain and Files Server B: Exchange and Applications? Thanks!
Windows Small Business Server 2008 question? We already have a windows 2003 server in place that runs the domain, we need to add another server to act as an application server, and were thinking about using Windows Small Business Server 2008 Premium. My question is can we still use the 2003 server as the domain controller and use the 2008SBS as just a member server? Or do we have to upgrade the 2003 to 2008?
How do you change the domain on Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003? I've got SBS2003 running on a server. When we set it up we used a xxxx.local domain and that's not what I want anymore. I want to run it as a normal domain (a different one than is used right now) and I'm not sure how to change it other than starting over with a new reinstall which I think is a bad idea. So, can I make some changes to point the server to a new domain name that will change Exchange, Sharepoint, etc.? I'm trying to make it so that I can have a Sharepoint website be external (http://www.xxxx.com/sharepoint or something) and also change the domain that Exchange references. I used to have a business and that's the domain that's being used but now I want to change it to something else. Any help is appreciated.
Windows Small Business Server 2003 Cache Issue. Help!!!? We have a server at work running Windows Small Business Server 2003 that is located behind a hardware firewall. We have 8 workstations going through the server before working their way out to the internet. We have been having a problem with getting older versions of websites on our computers when people outside our network can see the newer version. For example, we upload data to an outside computer system that works in tandem with our main company software. However, when we then go to that website through Firefox or IE, the new information does not appear to be there, but if I call someone at home and have them check the website, it's updated. I can only assume it's some sort of cache problem here at work, but I have no idea how to remedy the situation. Anyone else have any idea?

Windows Small Business Server 2003 - Where to get from now? Bought a legitimate copy of Windows Small Business Server 2003 Premium R2 for around $1k but it was not finding any hard drives so I started reading abut Installation Requirements that say SBS 2003 R2 requires SBS 2003 SP1 (which is completely non-sense to me but ...) Now I have to have this machine ready by tomorrow :-( Are there any places on the internet where I can pay and download SBS 2003 to burn a bootable CD to have SBS 2003 installed fresh? Would a Trial Version be available somewhere I can download to move on to SBS 2003 R2? Please suggest what are my options ... Thanks and Regards, QAData
Is there a Netgear N300 Wireless USB driver for Windows Small Business Server 2003? Dose anyone know if there is a Netgear N300 Wireless USB driver for Windows Small Business Server 2003. The PC that I installed it on does not have wireless card so I need to use a Wireless USB to get internet. But the OS is not supported by the Netgear installation CD. I need to use the USB to get access to the internet. Otherwise I would need to use a Ethernet cable and use my other PCs internet. But I don't want to do that. I do also realize that I could hook the PC up to the router directly but I don't want to do that either. I will if i have to tho. Anyway if you know or have a link to the driver that would be wounder full :) Thank you.

Whats the difference between "Small Business Server 2003" & "Server 2003 for Small Business Server"? I was placed in charge of setting up a network and server at work a few weeks ago and I've been having a lot of trouble getting things to work. They bought "Microsoft Windows Server 2003 for Small Business" in addition to an extra set of licenses that is for "Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003" I am realizing that there is a difference between "Small Business Server" and "Server FOR Small Business". What is the difference and most importantly what is "Server FOR small Business" used for? Currently my server is running Server 2003 for small business server. This is my first built server and network but i have built over 25PC's so am somewhat familiar with hardware and Windows OS. Can anyone help me? So far it is confirmed that what I have allows only 15 user clients and geared toward file and print sharing. It is also a seperate OS from Small Business Server 2003.
Is Windows 2003 Small Business Server STILL just Windows 2003 Server? I want to take exam 70-290, but I also want to purchase my own copy of Windows 2003 server to practice. I was thinking of buying it here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330295378134 My Question is: Does the "Small Business" version remove any core functionality or water it down at all? can this version also function as a domain controller as well? The company I work for has a lot of clients who use 2003 Small Business server, so I'd like to get to know these features as well, i just don't want a version that is not suitable for practicing for the 70-290 exam. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Small Business Server Keeps Shutting Down? Hi everyone I have a frustrating problem with the Windows Small Business Server at my office. It regularly keeps shutting down and provides me with the following error: event id: 1011 Multiple domain controllers running Windows Server 2003 for Small Business Server have been detected in your domain. To prevent this computer from shutting down in the future, you must remove all but one of these from the domain. The only problem is I do not have another another DC on the network! We have another Server 2003 machine running file and print services but it is not configured as a domain controller. Any Ideas would be most appreciated. Thanks In Advance
I would like to know how to find a wav file in the first storage group on a Windows Small Business Server 2003? Hi there, I am currently employed as sysadmin for a small firm within the transport industry. One of our users in the call centre would like to receive a .wav recording of a call that was recorded in November. I think the file just might be saved somewhere in the first storage group but I don't know how to extract information or files from there. I've tried from the "outside", just scanning through all the folders in the network and there are no .wav files in there, then I've had a look from the "inside" of the server computer but obviously there are no such files in there either, so I'm assuming that the information is not in an easily available format. Please help. Kind regards Pongy goo.gl/BMGh1 Ashil, Don't give me attitude please, just try to solve the problem by providing an answer. That is what Yahoo Answers is for, not wailing about unemployment. Nikkai, The problem is a) the files are not named logically like REC100910.wav but rather randomly, like: NJSDNF_xsdf_123.wav. Also, a second and important problem is that there doesn't appear to be any .wav files on the server whatsoever. The users receive them through Outlook but I'll be darned if I know where they are stored.
Windows 7, Small Business Server 2003 loosing permissions? I have a training room with 12 systems and a Small Business 2003 server. The workstations are dual booted Windows 7 Pro and XP Pro (we do training in both). I have added the workstations to the domain on both sides (Win7 and XP). I discovered today that the user permissions on the Win7 side keep dropping. I had gone in to Local Users and Groups and assigned various Domain groups to the Power Users category. Later on I found just the random SSID listings were there. I removed them and reassigned, but after closing and opening; it was back to the just the generic SSID. I tried assigning the groups as Standard Users, same thing. As there is a Windows 7 class going on right now, I cannot check the XP side; but we did have an XP class the other day and no problems were reported. Any ideas? Thanks John. I realize that "lost" was probably not the right term, I knew that the workstation was not pulling from the server. I have never tried dual booting and tying both to the same server either, was hoping someone else had. I will look at the Firewall aspect, I had not thought of that. I will let you know if it helps any. Thanks again, good food for thought.

Replace Client Laptop on Small Business Server? We're running Windows Small Business Server 2003. One of our employees has a new laptop (Windows 7) and wants to get rid of his old one. How to block internet radio within within a windows domain? I've got a Windows Small Business Server 2003 domain and need to block access to web radio streams. How do you set up a server network card to accept a static IP address? I'm working with Windows Small Business Server 2003 on a Dell Poweredge 1900. I've manually entered the IP address and preferred and alternate DNS servers. BT suggested I use 255.255.255.0 as the Subnet Mask, and the static IP address they've issued as the Default gateway, but I cannot get a connection. If I switch back to 'Obtain an IP address automatically' I get a connection but the card is generating an IP address of 10.0.0.7. I need to have the card retain the static IP address so I can access the server remotely. The server has two NICs; one for the external broadband connection (which is the one I am having problems with) and a second which is hooked to our network switch. I'd really appreciate any advice anyone can give on this. Many thanks.

Windows Server 2008 /2003 and exchange 2007/2003? Hello, On our company we have 70 pcs and we are going to change windows server 2000 small business server to another windows server with new hardware. It is a good idea to change to windows server 2008, or use the 'old' 2003 ? (2008 is enough 'ready' ?)... the same question goes for exchange 2003/2007. I suppose we don't have to change our xps machines and our officeS 2003 clients, isn't it ? Somebody have experience on it (blogs, webs,...) ? Thanks in advance !

Small Business - Server and PC Help!? Hi, Right, basically, we're setting up a small company and need some advice. We're going to have: 8 Laptops for staff. 2 MAIN Admin PC's for records etc. 6 'cheap' PC's for the kids to be learning on etc. 4 Apple iMacs for designing etc. ALSO: We have 2 offices in different locations, and in office 2 we have 2 PC's which need the email and a few files... Note: This has to be secure as we'll be holding info on Teenagers.. So, we need a good server. - What kind, whereabouts to get it ETC.. I've had a look on the DELL website at cheap starter ones. I don't know how much data there will be, so we might need something with a big hard drive? RAM ETC We NEED to backup every week is it best to do this via Tape? I believe Windows Server 2003 is best? and EASIEST!!! I'd like all the comps to be XP. Also note, with the Macs they don't fully need to be connected for file sharing etc. just on the Internet.. Some advice please! Thanks all.
Which version of Windows Server do I need? I am switching hosts and moving to managed hosting. I have ASP3, ASP.NET, MSSQL, PHP, and mySQL that need to be supported. I'm sure I could make Apache work with Mono or use IIS for XP with ISAPI Rewrite, but this is for a web-based business and I can't afford to screw up. I'm trying to figure out what software to buy, obviously at the best price. Can I get by with Web Server 2003 and SQL Express? Do I need R2 Standard? Small Business Server? Can someone please shed some insight into what the best OS for an ASP.NET managed server would be? Thanks I'm leaning towards SBS 2003 right now. There are used copies on eBay and I found out that the free version of SQL server only supports 1 CPU/1GB RAM (I have 2 of each). Thanks again!

DCHP Server? Hello, I am using Windows Server 2003 SBS. Now, a few months ago we had Windows Server 2003 running with a domain on it. That server broke down so we decided to get a new server and got Windows Server 2003 SBS with it. I have installed it and am configuring it how ever... I am trying to create a Domain and each time I try it comes up with an error "Setup detected an existing DHCP server. The network can support only one DHCP server. We recommend that you disable your existing DHCP server. Setup can then install the DHCP server provided by Windows Small Business Server." Now, we havent had a domain running on this network for months. The computers (all 5 of them) were running on a WORKGROUP and will soon be running on the new domain (once I set it up). The server with the other domain was taken off the network a while ago. What else could be causing this error? If this isn't the right place to ask this question where else could I go for assistance?
