Now that we're in May, does anyone know if they've defined a date when it'll begin popping up in stores?

My question is, has anyone else had this problem and if so, did you somehow get it fixed? If so, how? Please help!!!

Windows Home Server or Windows Server? I have about 6 computers in my house. A couple of them, need to be watched and logged 24/7. Then some of them, not all of them need to have web restrictions. Windows Home Server or Windows Server?

Windows Home Server - Software for remote access? I'm looking for the software that allows you to access your windows home server as if it were another hard drive on your machine, for easy drag and drop file transfers. I'm having trouble finding this on the microsoft website and on google. Can anyone provide me with the link? Run Windows Server 2008 (2K8) and Windows Home Server (WHS) Simultaneously? Hi, I'm looking to buy a media server (probably one of the HP MediaSmart models) to consolidate the family's media library (scattered across 2 desktops, 3 laptops, Mac and Windows). I also need to run Windows Server 2008 for a work-project I'm developing. Media servers typically run Windows Home Server (WHS), which itself is a customized version of Windows Server 2003. Is it possible to get both running on the same machine? I've googled articles that describe how to replace WHS with WS2K8, but that is not what I want. WHS will be the primary server OS and I'll only need WS2K8 when I need to test something with a Active Directory domain. So the question is this: can a media server either be configured to dual-boot WHS and WS2K8, or can WS2K8 be run as a virtual machine on a media server, and if so, how? Thanks, Roland Thomas
Windows Home Server vs. Windows Server 2008? I would like to build a home server that will serve as both a backup (with RAID) for my family across three states and for file/media sharing. I've never dealt with server O/S's before, and would welcome all of your opinions. I do have experience with building computers and I consider myself generally tech knowledgeable, but I don't want to spend too much time learning stuff. Windows Home Server sounds like it will be significantly less complicated than Server 2008. Recommendations, please? Thanks.

Buying Windows Home Server Software? I recently got a second-hand server, it's pretty small and not the best stat-wise, but it's better than nothing. I was looking through some software to put on it, and I found that Windows Home Server is probably the best for me. I don't want the roaming-user thing, I really just want to back up my stuff and perhaps have a media server (HP sells software for that). Anyway, I've looked through what you can buy, and all I can find is the HP server with Windows Home Server already on it. I don't need the physical server, I just want an installation disc so I can put the software on my server. Is there anywhere I can buy just the Windows Home Server installation disc?

How to make money from home server? Hi, I am currently on 3 mbps down and 1 mbps up DSL Biz class line and I have 4 static IP's with a router running pfsense with 1:1 NAT routing and I am going to setup a home windows server soon running a web server and other server software that doesn't use much bandwidth. I currently have a private linux server, but I wouldn't open that up to the public since I don't have much experience in linux, so I was wondering what is something that I could run on my home connection that maybe I could make $$ from a month? At least enough to pay for my internet bill. I can't host game servers and other server software like that because it uses to much bandwidth. Is there anything else out there that maybe I could get profit doing? I also own 1 domain.
Can I use Windows Home Server as a Normal PC? For example, if I installed Windows Home Server onto one of my old systems, would I still be able to install applications (outlook, office, bejeweled, firefox, frostwire, uTorrent etc) and use it as a normal PC or would it become a fileserver only which cannot be used as anything other than the server (like the HP Mediasmart). Any info greatly appreciated (or any alternatives) :-) ta. - - - My Systems are: Desktop - Vista Home Prem Laptop - Vista Home Prem Desktop - Old - Currently used as a server - Vista Home Prem Desktop - Old - Win XP Home - Upgrading to XP Pro. I'll be installing the "windows home server" software/operating system onto one of my old PC's.

Can you use raid 1 in/for windows home server? Hello, I would like to set up a raid 1 array for a computer running windows home server. I understand that windows home server creates an image of everything which essentially sets up raid 1 for you, but I would rather not use that because of all of the data corruption issues, and 95$ for complete peace of mind that everything is backed up is justified for me. I understand that you can raid 1 the OS if your motherboard is compatible, but is it possible to raid 1 for any additional drives through windows? (say I add 4x500gb drives 2 in raid 1 for movies and 2 in raid 1 for pictures/songs) ps. I don't actually have windows home server yet. Trying to decide whether or not to get it.
Backup Options - Drobo or HP EX485 Windows Home Server? I was originally considering Drobo storage device, now I am nearly convinced that I am going to go with an HP EX485 Windows Home Server. The WHS seems to have the same functionality plus a lot more. Would use this as a backup for photos/video - approx 500GB storage today and growing by about 50GB per month. Would like to use RAID to be able to secure data in case of drive failure and also backup to another external USB drive. Any reason NOT to get HP WHS? Like to hear any thoughts/feedback on these!
Install Windows Home Server 2008 on an external HDD? I have an old PC with 512mb ram and 55gb HDD (WHS needs 65gb) so i want to try install it on an external HDD sorry maybe i wasn't clear with my question: Windows home server won't install to my internal drive because it requires 65gb of HDD space minimum Also it seems to only support IDE and SATA connections (not usb) so is there a hack or something to get around this?

does Windows Home Server allow network bridging? ie PC1 <-> WHS PC <-> PC2 <-> router ^ can each PC connect to each other and the internet in this case? Are you saying the WHS can act as a router, if so what benefits or features does it offer? What is your source that WHS allows network bridging? The following thread suggests that there is no such feature in WHS: http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsHomeServer/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1744498&SiteID=50

A friend and I work on computers as a hobby and it’s a hassle and expensive to keep burning cds with the stuff we need. We want to be able to log into the server download and upload files we need. Is there a set of software I can use to build a file server accessible from remote locations? If possible I would like something web browser friendly and not a hassle to setup and maintain. Windows based server is preferred but not essential.
